Welcome to the world of this 'Crazy Mother.' Yes, I proudly consider myself a "Crazy Mother" on a mission to promote acceptance for children with disabilities and to show how fiction writing can influence and inspire that acceptance. While I mostly see myself as a fiction author, my autobiography, "The Crazy Mother's Guide To Raising Exceptional Children," is my first and only attempt at nonfiction. Encouraged by my children's therapists, I wanted to share my unconventional parenting techniques for handling serious teenage issues. I hope you, as a reader, gain insight from exploring my author's page into the mind of this Christian writer as I navigate the complex and often challenging landscape of raising children with disabilities and facing their unique daily struggles.
My work is unique, as I gravitate towards larger-sized books with large print, ample white space, and shorter paragraphs to make it easier for individuals with ASD, ADHD, and dyslexia to read. The world of publishing needs to start focusing on including individuals with visual disabilities to promote literacy, especially among young children. I am a non-profit author, as my prices cover the costs of book production, and I don't take a wage myself, as I am doing this out of love for writing and my passion for writing for children with disabilities. How can you help my cause? Join my social media accounts, promote my posts, and spread the word that there is an Aussie author who is prioritizing children with disabilities because I have three of my own who have ASD and numerous other medical conditions.
God Bless,
Sonia D. Hebdon
