The Ink Returns! has finally been released, and it hasn't been easy. A long, hot summer in Australia, hailstorms at night, and an office filled with rescue animals vying for my attention, with my keyboard often considered a comfy seat. Looking back on the beginning of The Haven Cove Series, I feel truly blessed to have created a clean, fictional supernatural world set in the 80s, centered on the music of that era. With a "Stranger Things" vibe meets "Pretty in Pink", I wanted to share my love of '80s music as a former '90s Goth.
Music is powerful; it touches your soul and instantly brings back memories of youth. My passion for writing is a way to combat the extreme bullying my ASD kids—and I—faced years ago. I've always danced to my own tune, and I’m proud of who my children have become as teenagers. Now, I finally have the time to write. If you're wondering why I don't have hundreds of reviews like other authors, it's because I refuse to pay reader groups to review my work. I believe money shouldn't be exchanged for reviews, so I let my online presence grow organically.
I have dozens of reader groups and marketers wanting to work with me and promote my work, contacting me weekly. As a trained journalist, I am selective about who I collaborate with and prefer to stay true to my morals rather than focus solely on book sales. To me, as an author, the time I have to write and advocate for ASD and DID awareness is my primary motivation—creating books for those who aren't served by the publishing industry. All my work is in large print, 16 point or larger. I use smaller paragraphs, include illustrations when needed, and leave plenty of white space. Why? Readers with ASD, ADHD, and other reading challenges find this format easier to absorb and finish a book.
Additionally, as a trained high school English teacher with extra training in autism awareness and my own kids on the spectrum, I aim to create stories that resonate with kids and teens who are different and march to their own beat. How can you help? Please promote my work on your social media, and if you loved my stories, please review them on Goodreads or Amazon. It helps my books show up in search results.
What can you expect in Book 2? Well, another fantastic 80s soundtrack—I've spent around 80 hours listening to 80s music while writing, making sure each song fits the scene. A Spotify song list has been created to make it easier for readers to find the music, and the link is in both the paperback and e-pub versions. This is new, and I'm currently updating the first book to include the Spotify list for Sincerely Yours. The story reaches a pivotal moment as Josie and Blaine attend the Whitlock Writer's Retreat. An invitation was left on top of her purse at Prom in the first book. Josie and Blaine have moved to Los Angeles, as his father is terminal with lung cancer. Both are in college—Josie studying journalism and Blaine attending a prestigious art school—and they’re adjusting to their new lives. Alaric has recruited a new Realm of Darkness writer and is determined to become real. With another high-impact cliffhanger at the end, you'll want tissues and some time to process this incredible sequel. The untitled Book 3 will be released in mid-July 2026 and will wrap up the story.
However, the Haven Cove Universe will continue with a new series that focuses on three new characters introduced in this book. Let's see which characters you think deserve their own stories.
Thank you for purchasing The Ink Returns! I look forward to hearing your honest feedback.
God Bless,
Sincerely yours,
